What Makes Our Process Different

Our team of technicians at Professional Hood & Duct take the time to reach every inch of your kitchen exhaust system. Unlike other companies who promise a "total system cleaning", we do more than focus on just the visible parts of your range hood. We clean the hood, exhaust ducts, fans, filters, and drip cups.

Protecting Your Kitchen--It's important to protect the rest of your kitchen while you are bettering your exhaust system. All too often, other critical investments in your kitchen can be damaged in the process. That's why our technicians are trained to canopy to protect everything from your countertops to your appliances to your floors.

Hand Scraping – This is a simple and affordable way to remove grease deposits from accessible areas. Many businesses like to have hand scraping done once a month. Hand scraping is meticulous work that ensures the integrity of your system by removing grease effectively--layer by layer.

Steam and/or Water Pressure Cleaning – After a thorough hand scraping, we use hot, high-pressure water to remove any remaining grease. The hot pressure of steam cleaning gets to all of the hard to reach places where grease can build up in corners of the duct work.

The System Health Check- The safety of your kitchen is important to us. Every regularly scheduled cleaning also includes an exhaust fan inspection. We will check the belts and fan bearings. We want to make sure your exhaust fan is drawing properly, so that your system stays cleaner longer and runs at optimum function.

The Final Polish- Whether your range surface is stainless or galvanized, a sparkling finish is the pride and joy of PHD. We will not leave until your system has our signature sparkle.

Our Certification & Promise- After each of our cleanings, we provide you with a "Certificate of Performance" sticker as proof that you have fulfilled your cleaning to the NFPA standards. Our stickers can also help you save money on your insurance bills.

Filters & Traps: The grease filters in your kitchen exhaust system exist to reduce the amount of vaporized grease that ends up in the duct work of your system. When too much grease builds up in the system, it can cause a flash fire. Clean filters trap up to 70-80 percent of this grease. When your filters are already saturated with grease, they can’t do their job properly and they reduce the efficiency of your system. You also increase the risk of a dangerous grease accumulation right above your cooking appliances.

Your maintenance schedule is dependent on the type of grease used in your kitchen. Please see the chart below for NFPA recommendations:
